July Summary

Two beloved dogs, Viollete and Shakira, were tragically poisoned at our shelter. A heartless individual snuck into a dark area and left poisoned food in their kennels.

We rushed Bruno, the surviving German Shepherd, to Layan Clinic, where he soon died.

Gunnar suffered a more violent death from blunt force trauma to the head. Diana found his beaten body inside the shelter- we are still at a loss as to how someone managed to break into the shelter and do something so heinous.

We're heartbroken and determined to find justice. We've filed a police report and they are investigating this crime.

Our worker, Steve, continues to go above and beyond for the shelter. He has been sleeping there overnight since.

Meanwhile, our remaining dogs need your help.

Please share this story and consider adopting or fostering an animal in need. We can facilitate International Adoptions.

Last week, our adventurous pup Rascal jetted off to Germany!

Diana pampered him the day before his flight with a spa treatment, including a haircut, nail trim, and a refreshing bath. Our friend and volunteer, Thomas Trischler, played a vital role in Rascal's journey. Thomas escorted him all the way to Frankfurt, where a wonderful couple fostered him overnight. The next day, Rascal reached his final happy destination!

Tara's journey began months ago when a friend of the shelter found her near there home. We provided initial care and took her to the vet before placing her in our shelter. There, she shared a foster home with Harri, a dog previously adopted by another family.

Fortunately, Tara found a loving foster home with a friend of ours who eventually decided to adopt her. Just ten days ago, they embarked on a heartwarming adventure to Tara's forever home in Finland.

We're incredibly grateful to our friend for fostering Tara since she was a puppy and for giving her the loving home she deserves.

Diana received a video of a whimpering puppy, abandoned in a Beit Jala construction site for over a day. Injured and neglected, he faced the sun's heat with no food or water. Diana, alerted late, rushed to help despite initial delays. Dr. Mohammad Rajii agreed to see him at short notice. Diana managed to find an Association to sponsor him. He stayed overnight at her house and next day she sent him to the clinic under the care of an Association. Pup received further treatment and it now on the road to recovery. Our sincere thanks to Dr. Rajii and the association for their vital help in this rescue.

Another Heartbreaking Loss: a friend informed Diana of a male dog struck by a car and abandoned on the street. We rushed him to Dr. Layan Tawil, but despite first aid, his internal bleeding and laboured breathing proved too much. Sadly, the dog succumbed to his injuries. We laid him to rest peacefully.

This tragedy is just one of many that happen daily on the roads of the West Bank.  It serves as a stark reminder of the danger that West Bank stray dogs and cats face . Animals share our roads, and a moment of caution can prevent such heartbreaking outcomes.

A 5-month-old female puppy was hit by a car in Doha. The driver, a woman, called me for help.

We contacted various organizations to see if they could sponsor the puppy's treatment. After reaching out to ten different associations, we found one willing to help – it was the first time we'd worked with them.

The puppy has four fractures in its pelvis and a broken leg in her back. It underwent surgery two days after the accident and is currently recovering in a hospital. She will need another surgery in two weeks.

People from various areas, including Bethlehem, Hebron, and Beit Jala, brought numerous kittens to Diana. Haifa Abu Hamdan, a friend of the shelter, generously took in all these kittens, including nursing kittens and adult nursing mothers. We will continue to provide her with wet and dry food to help care for them. We are incredibly grateful to Haifa for taking in so many vulnerable kittens.

For three months, Diana had been attempting to rescue a dog residing in a housing building. Despite multiple visits and assistance from others, she was unable to capture the animal. Eventually, with the help of our worker, Steve, and a friend, Diana managed to catch the dog. The animal was in critical condition, suffering from high fever, severe mange, the loss of one eye, and numerous wounds. After intensive care at two veterinary clinics, a sponsor was found, and he was sent to them last week.

Thank you to Al Buraq and Dr Mohammed Raji for saving him, as well as Steve and everybody else who helped rescue this poor boy.

__________________________________________________________________________________Diana received a call yesterday from a woman who had found a male dog lying injured on the street in Assira Nablus after being hit by a car. Diana arranged for the dog to be transported to @royalcarevet in Nablus.

Unfortunately, the dog was in critical condition with a fractured skull and internal bleeding. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, the dog succumbed to his injuries and passed away that morning.

This tragic event highlighted the importance of paying attention to animals on the road. Even the smallest act of care can save a life.

__________________________________________________________________________________Another difficult rescue case in Nablus. A woman contacted us after finding our Facebook page while searching for help for a dog. This is the second case found through a similar search (the first dog unfortunately died).

The woman described a white female dog abandoned for 10 days. No one provided veterinary care until this woman contacted us. We immediately sent Usama Hamadneh to transport the dog to Royal Care Hospital in Nablus.

X-rays and blood tests revealed a crushed pelvis, two spinal fractures, a broken rib, extremely low blood and sugar levels, allergies, and a severe tick infestation. The hospital is providing intensive care, but we urgently need a sponsor to cover the costs.

We are yet to find her a sponsor.

Two tiny puppies were found in terrible condition by our friend. Unable to leave them on the street, she brought them to her home. We immediately arranged for a taxi to take them to @Al-Buraq Advanced Veterinary Centre مركز البُراق للخدمات البيطرية المتقدمة .

The vet was shocked by the overwhelming number of ticks on the puppies and their high fever. They were given medication for ticks and antibiotics. Thankfully, they've started eating.

Once they recover, these puppies will need loving homes. We're incredibly grateful to Emily Jacir for rescuing them from the streets.
